“There’s Sin on the Floor!”

“There’s Sin on the Floor!”

“Grace in a culture gives sin that resides in people’s hearts an opportunity to manifest.” {Bill Johnson ~iBethel, Redding, California} Lately I have started re- reading Danny Silk’s book ‘The Culture of Honor’. He is one of the Pastor/Teachers that have worked alongside of Bill Johnson at Bethel Church in Redding California for many years. In the past two years through my church, Passion Worship Center of Bonney Lake Washington I have basically had life resuscitation, spiritually speaking because of the plethora of spirit led, life transforming information I have been blessed to receive through both my local church as well as Bethel Church. We at Passion Worship Center are in association and close relationship with Bethel. My pastor, Chris Bassett has said several times that Bill Johnson of Bethel had become a spiritual Father and Mentor to him several years ago when he first heard Bill at a conference and so Passion Worship Center decided to begin association with Bethel Church and come under their apostolic covering. In light of our exposure as a church family to Bethel Church about every quarter we read a couple of their Pastor’s books, in attempting to set a foundation for what we hope to both accomplish in our personal fellowship as well as our community of Bonney Lake. ‘The Culture of Honor’ is one of these books. Of the books I have gone through with my church I had found ‘The Culture of Honor’ to be the hardest for me to grasp, spiritually speaking and so I am attempting to peruse it’s pages yet again to see if I might gain further insights. As the title shows the main theme of this book is of course, ‘HONOR’; that is how to cultivate and convey honor not only to the Body of Christ but to our communities and world as well. Earlier in the week I came upon this passage from the book ( “Kingdom Confrontation”~chapter 7). “When we live in a place of love and acceptance, and are applying God’s unconditional love to people’s lives 100% of the time, the sin that lies dormant in people’s lives or that people have been hiding will come out and end up on the...

“Waking The Dead”- Healing The Brokenhearted (pt. 2)

This week in WTD- Chapter 8~ “Deep Restoration” we have been discussing what Eldredge calls ‘The STREAM of RESTORATION (Healing) and what that means for us as Christians. Specifically we have been addressing the topic of ‘Healing of BROKENHEARTS’ as that is the salient point of chapter eight. A few days ago my post dealt with the question of whether, as Eldredge asserts that Jesus came to heal the ‘Brokenhearted’ per His commission in Isaiah 61 or if as David Implored we are to come with a ‘ Broken Heart’ before God to be able to enter into an authentic relationship with Him. This discussion will now attempt to answer that question, yet perhaps in a ‘round a bout way’ as there are some important thoughts I have about this vital area in regard to our daily walk as Christians before each other and the Lord. I agree with Eldredge when he states in the chapter that we have ALL, each and every person had their hearts ‘broken’ and more than one time; possibly many times. “The heart can be broken—literally. Just like a branch or a statue or a bone. Can you name any precious thing that can’t? But somehow we have overlooked the fact that this treasure called the heart can also be broken, has been broken, and now lies in pieces down under the surface. When it comes to “habits” that we cannot quit or patterns we cannot stop, anger that flies out of nowhere, fears we cannot overcome or weaknesses we hate to admit—much of what troubles us comes out of the broken places in our hearts crying out for relief.” (page 132 ‘Waking The Dead’) For me, it is just like how each of us goes through life incurring various scrapes, cuts, and bruises or sometimes even more traumatic injuries like a broken bone , injured organs or serious illnesses like cancer or diabetes. Just like our body is susceptible to injury and disease, so our ‘Hearts’ are susceptible to injury and heartbreak. So as Eldredge says we are in need of Deep Restoration or healing of our hearts from the Master Physician, Jesus. Sadly, however I believe most of the world and even...

“Healing for The Brokenhearted”~ From ‘Waking The Dead’~Eldredge

In this post I would like to begin a new series for which I have created a new ‘Category’ that I have titled ‘Book Study’. Once or twice weekly I will write a synopsis of a current book I am reading and studying; what I am learning and any important insights I have gained. presently I am leading a small group at my church through a weekly study of ‘Waking The Dead’ written by John Eldredge (2003). I feel so strongly about the content in this wonderful book! For me, this is my third time through the book in the last 18 months and it has truly been enlightening, life-transforming, and Mind- Blowing material! To me this should be a MUST READ for every Born Again Believer; you will never AGAIN look at yourself, your God, or your life EVER the same…YOU WILL BE TRANSFORMED as never before IF you read with an open and willing heart! Enough said about that for now…Here is how I will handle my different posts on the book. Since I started the study with my group in September we are now up to chapter 8, so that is where I will begin my weekly insights. The chapters in the book, can be read as an almost individual ‘book’ within themselves, as they each touch on a new topic and so with that said I will eventually come back to the beginning of the book, so hold on for a ‘WILD & EXCITING, MIND-BLOWING’ ride!!! Here is a QUESTION I am dealing with this week as I prepare for our Thursday evening ‘Waking The Dead Class’ Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted ; He has sent me to BIND UP THE BROKENHEARTED.. In the above passage the prophet Isaiah prophetically proclaims the ministry of Jesus…In fact Jesus went into the synagogue & read this passage (Luke 4:18-20) saying his ministry would be the fulfillment of this passage…That HE was that anointed ONE. So, as we are studying in chapter 8 of ‘Waking The Dead’ `Deep Restoration’, we are see the whole tenor of this chapter is that...
